Hamza Shehbaz visits Gujranwala, reviews arrangements for upcoming public meeting

GUJRANWALA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Hamza Shehbaz on Friday visited Gujranwala and reviewed the arrangements for the public meeting of March 11 where the newly elected PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif would be addressing.

Hamza met the PML-N MPs, representatives of local bodies and local leaders, and called upon them to ensure a maximum number of people to break the PML-N’s own record of a mammoth public gathering.

He said that no one can become the prime minister by misstatements and lies, and Imran Khan must remember the fact that serving the masses was the basic tool of leadership. “The present government has fulfilled most of its promises including that of ending load shedding and in the general elections the PML-N would face the masses with pride,” he said.

Hamza also said that local bodies were the main pillar of democracy and after getting a fresh mandate more powers and funds would be given to these institutions. He said that Nawaz Sharif had won the hearts of the people and proved to be a “real Awami leader”, who could not be replaced.

He asked the people of Gujranwala to gather on March 11, and prove the popularity of their party leadership.

On the occasion, Hamza was given a warm welcome by the PML-N workers, especially the youth, who chanted slogans in his favour. Federal Ministers Khurram Dastgir and Mahmud Bashir Virk, Punjab Minister Rana Mashhood, and other MNAs, as well as MPAs, were also present.

It may be noted that the PML-N on February 27 made Shehbaz Sharif its acting president. Shehbaz’s name as the party’s interim president was nominated by his brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The office of the party president fell vacant last week after the Supreme Court revoked Clause 203 of the Election Act, 2017, holding former premier Nawaz Sharif ineligible to retain the PML-N presidency owing to his disqualification on July 28.
