ACE chairman vows to uproot menace of illegal gratification

HYDERABAD: The Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Chairman Ilimuddin Ballu vowed on Friday to root out the menace of illegal gratification from provincial government departments, adding that all out efforts are being made to nab such corrupt officers and employees and bring them in the courts of law.

Presiding over an ACE meeting, he asked the officers to not spare those employees who are found guilty of taking illegal gratification. The strict legal action should be initiated against these persons irrespective of any influence or pressure, he maintained.

He maintained that no one is above the law and that the officers should make their best efforts in pursuing the cases against the accused officers which are pending before the courts so that those who found involved in taking illegal gratification could be punished in accordance with rules and regulations.

The chairman expressed his dissatisfaction over the presentation given by Hyderabad Deputy Director Usman Tahir and allowed him one more month to improve the performance.

He directed him to launch mass awareness programmes in all districts of Hyderabad division and guide the people about the correct way of lodging complaints against the officers so that effective action could be taken against those involved in the menace of taking illegal gratification.

The persons who are absconders in cases of taking illegal gratification should be booked at the earliest and cases should be challaned in the relevant courts without any delay and in accordance with the rules and regulations, he further directed.

The legal experts should be contacted for pursuing the technical aspects of the cases being heard by the court, he added.

He also directed to discourage the trend of taking action against unnamed and unclaimed complaints and warned that strict action including the issuance of show cause would be taken against those who found negligent.
