Twitter rolls out ‘Bookmarks’, a smarter way to save tweets

Twitter rolled out a new update called Bookmarks which allows users to save tweets in private for later use.

According to reports, it remained in testing phase last year, but will now cater the desire of Twitter users to save content for later reading.

Since there is so much news circulating on the micro-blogging site, Twitter’s Bookmarks will let people save tweets with links to articles and blogs, or media. Twitterati can simply save these tweets when they don’t have time to read or watch the stuff posted by their favourite people.

Although there is a heart-shaped button to like a certain tweet, some users complain that it uncomfortable to use the ‘Favorite’ button for saving tweets because it indicates a response of positive sentiment for the tweet even when the content is otherwise.

People may prefer bookmarking tweets because it saves them privately, as contrary to the Favourite option where followers are shown the response as the action is made public.

Bookmarks can be used by choosing a tweet, clicking “share” icon and selecting “Add Tweet to Bookmarks”. These tweets are saved for later in “Bookmarks” added in Profile icon menu, below Lists.

To use the feature, one only has to update Twitter for iOS and Android, or Twitter Lite.
