–Punjab CM says PTI chief had falsely alleged that Faisal Subhan had confessed to corruption before a Chinese official delegation
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan only falsely accuses other people but when he receives a notice, he neither responds nor appears for legal proceedings.
Addressing a press conference, Shehbaz said that Imran is always placing false accusations and misguides the youth.
“Imran has presented Faisal Subhan as a mythical character,” said the Punjab CM in relation to the CEO of Capital Engineering, who was probed for corruption allegations in the Multan Metro Bus project. He added that except for the honourable judges, no one can tell who is lying, adding that the PTI chief has accused him for the fifth time.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Imran in his allegation said that Subhan confessed before Chinese officials, but a Chinese delegation never came to Pakistan.
The PTI Chairman Imran Khan earlier had said that Subhan confessed to the Chinese regulatory authority investigating corruption charges in the Multan Metro project that Shehbaz and his family received hefty kickbacks in their overseas accounts.
The PTI chief had called the statement of Capital Engineering CEO’s statement ‘Panama of Shehbaz Sharif’.
Imran had also alleged that following his confession, Subhan went missing and the PTI will initiate a campaign to recover him.
The PTI chief also requested to the Supreme Court to make metro and Orange Line projects contracts public.
Separately, talking to parliamentarians, Shehbaz said that selfless public service was continuously pursued by the government.
“We have tried to fulfill the trust shown by the people in 2013 and due to our hard work and sincere efforts, we today stand successful in the court of the masses,” said Shehbaz while adding that the people could not be served through hollow slogans.
“Niazi Sahib raised hollow slogans of public service whereas the claimants of the so-called change have totally ruined the KP province. Due to it, Niazi Sahib is now afraid to face the public,” he said.
“The government made sure that the journey of national development continued despite sit-ins and lockdowns,” he said.
The chief minister also said that the owners of “palatial palaces” and “private jets” remained unsuccessful in the Lodhran by-polls while a “saintly figure” of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) stood victorious. “The by-elections were a slap in the face of liars and the elements that levelled baseless allegations. The people in the future as well will cast their votes in favour of those who did the politics of public service,” he added.
The members of the assembly congratulated Chief Minister Shehbaz on becoming the president of the PML-N and said that records of selfless public service were set by him in Punjab. They also said that the projects were completed before the timeframe and the people loved their chief minister and the development works carried out by him. The lawmakers also said that the development projects completed in southern Punjab were unprecedented in the seventy years history of the country.
Among those who called on the chief minister were members of National Assembly (MNA) Malik Sultan Muhammad Hinjra and Muhammad Ijazul Haq and former MPA Samiullah Chaudhry.
