DUBAI: One of the foreign players of Peshawar Zalmi, Liam Dawson, told he is prepared to travel to Pakistan if his team reached eliminators.
Talking to a private news outlet, Dawson said, “If we (Peshawar Zalmi) get to eliminators then I will be prepared to go (Pakistan).”
The English player hoped for Zalmi to reach the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018, which is to be played in Karachi on March 25. He admitted that he had chats with his teammates including foreign players about the participation in the Karachi final.
The first two eliminators of PSL 3 will be played in Lahore on March 20 and 21.
According to reports, overseas players in different franchises who have confirmed their availability for the Pakistan chapter of PSL include JP Duminy, Darren Sammy, Shane Watson, Andre Fletcher, Carlos Brathwaite, Imran Tahir, Luke Ronchi, Colin Ingram, Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, Sam Billings, Tamim Iqbal and David Wiese.
On his experience playing the third edition of PSL, he suggested that it is a chance for both young cricketers and overseas players to learn from legends like Younis Khan, and know about the playing conditions in the subcontinent.
The 27-year-old all-rounder stated, “It’s amazing to come to these tournaments and get to share a dressing room with legends of Pakistan cricket like Younis Khan and Saqlain Mushtaq who’ve experienced all conditions and their records speak for themselves.”
He admired the recent performance of Ibtisam Sheikh, the newly included 19-year-old wrist spinner in the Zalmi squad.
“He (Ibtisam) is a young lad and he has got a lot of time on his side. He has bowled very well in games he played so far [and] he’s very talented cricketer,” he remarked.
