LAHORE: An anti-corruption tribunal of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) banned Shahzaib Hasan for one year with Rs 1 million fine in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal.

PCB punished Hasan for violating articles 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 of its Anti-Corruption Code. He had earlier been charged with luring cricketers into the scam, not reporting approaches by the bookies, and hiding information regarding his contacts with the bookies.

Both articles 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 warn against “failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department” in such incidents.

The anti-corruption tribunal who heard the case had reserved its verdict on January 31, 2018. Hasan has remained suspended from all cricket formats since March 17, 2017.

The former Karachi Kings batsman was one of the players suspended on suspicion of involvement in the spot-fixing probe. He has also represented Pakistan in three ODIs and 10 T20I games.

Islamabad United openers Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan were banned for five years after being found guilty of spot-fixing and breaching the code. 12-month punishments were awarded to both Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Nawaz for not reporting the corruption matter.

In December 2017, Nasir Jamshed was handed one-year ban for not co-operating in the investigation.
