ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday praised the dignity of former interior minister Chaudhary  Nisar.

“Chaudhary Nisar has shown dignity by saying that he will not work under Maryam Nawaz,” Khan said.

PTI chief was referring to the recent statement of former minister and disgruntled PML-N leader in which Nisar said that he could not take orders from juniors.

Chaudhary Nisar has distanced himself from his party, PML-N, after developing differences with top leadership, specifically after Supreme Court’s Panama Papers verdict.

Earlier, Imran Khan said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will provide ‘undeniable evidence’ of money laundering against Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The PTI chief claimed “they have brought undeniable evidence against him [Asif] on the record,” adding that NAB’s silence despite the documents hinting alleged money laundering and corruption by the foreign minister is inexplicable.

He stated, “We are ready to provide details of corruption and money laundering (against Asif) to NAB.”

Imran showed concerns regarding why NAB didn’t any action against Asif despite the PTI petition.

He met with other party members including Usman Dar at his Bani Gala residence in Islamabad where they discussed the recently acquired ‘proofs’ against Asif.

Also, the PTI chairman claimed that Dar can prove money laundering and corruption of Asif and his wife by showing their banking transactions.

He hoped that NAB will soon take up legal proceedings against the foreign minister. “The accountability of those who are looting the taxpayers’ money is necessary. After the judiciary, the nation’s hopes are associated with the accountability institution,” he added.

Imran has directed Dar and PTI’s legal team to contact NAB and present the new documents.

Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court will hear Iqama case against Asif on March 1.

Further on, while addressing the media, the PTI chief said that the PML-N is attacking the Supreme Court (SC), army and National Accountability Bureau (NAB), in a bid to save the Sharifs’ wealth.

He was referring to the adoption of an anti-NAB resolution in the Punjab Assembly today.

“All of Pakistan condemns this resolution,” said Imran, asking “are they [Sharif and company] above the law?”

Imran said that countries do not progress with the development of roads and bridges but with the empowerment of institutions

“Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif spent Rs 9 trillion in Punjab in the last nine years,” he claimed, alleging that such ‘mega’ projects were undertaken to receive equally enormous kickbacks.

Moreover, Imran claimed that the Sharifs have a hand in the ‘disappearance’ of Faisal Subhan, an official who allegedly confessed before Chinese regulatory authorities that Shehbaz received kickbacks in the Multan Metro Bus Project.

“His crime is that he exposed them [Sharifs]. Mafias work like this not politicians,” the PTI chief stated.

When asked to comment on Nawaz’s elevation as the party’s chief for life, Imran questioned the PML-N’s sense of right and wrong.

“There is no such thing as a lifetime Quaid in any democratic party,” he asserted.

“Why don’t the PML-N lawmakers pass a law allowing the Sharifs to loot and plunder,” he suggested.

To a question, the PTI chief replied that the party hopes to clinch a Senate seat from Punjab thanks to PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar’s efforts.
