In another achievement, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has started electricity generation from the 4th extension of Tarbela, reported a local English newspaper.
WAPDA Chairman Muzammil Hussain visited the site and stated that first generating unit has started power supply to the national grid.
Hussain announced that prime minister will inaugurate the project formally in the second week of March. “The project has huge significance for the social and economic development of the country,” he said.
Three electric generation units-each of 470MW-have been installed at tunnel 4 of Tarbela Dam.
