Siraj-led Senate delegation visits LoC to boost morale of troops

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq led a Senate delegation to the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday to boost the morale of the Pakistan Army units stationed on the front line.

The delegation met the families of the martyrs and enquired about the health of those injured by Indian shelling. Speaking on the occasion, the JI chief urged the Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) not to feel alone as 200 million people in Pakistan stood behind them.

He said the hands of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were drenched with the blood of innocent Kashmiris. However, he said, the Kashmiris were nearing their goal of winning self-determination.

He saluted the bravery of the people residing at the LoC and said the Pakistani nation would not abandon those who were affected by continuous Indian shelling across the border.

He said due to the sacrifices of the armed forces and the people living near the border, the nation could enjoy peace and security. He said the army personnel guarding the country’s borders and its ideology were in high spirits, adding that the entire nation would stand shoulder to shoulder with them against the enemy.

Sirajul Haq further said that the liberation of Kashmir would change India’s map. He said it was high time that India granted the right of self-determination to Kashmiris in line with the United Nations (UN) resolutions. He urged the world community to take notice of India’s brutalities and bloodshed in occupied Kashmir.

Furthermore, he said if India committed any aggression against Pakistan, the Pakistani nation would give a befitting reply to its enemy.

He also said it was the federal government’s responsibility to solve the problems being faced by the people of Azad Kashmir.  He said JI had also made efforts in this connection and Azad Kashmir had been included in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on his suggestion.

He urged the federal government to give Kashmir a higher profit on the hydel power being generated from Mangla dam to help them move towards self-reliance.

Moreover, Siraj said that India was blocking Pakistan’s river water by building dams in an attempt to convert the country into a desert. He also said India was creating instability in Pakistan by sponsoring terrorism.

He urged the government to raise these issues at the international level. He further said that the Kashmiris had done their job and it was now time for the Pakistani government to frame a permanent Kashmir policy and appoint a deputy foreign minister who could highlight the Kashmir issue at the global level. He said that such steps were essential to give an assurance to Kashmiris that Islamabad would stand behind them through thick and thin.
