GUJRANWALA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mian Tariq Mahmood and Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mian Mazhar of Gujranwala on Monday left the ruling party to join the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to sources, the two MPs met former PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen at his residence, and would leave for Bani Gala along with Tareen.

The former PML-N leaders would formally announce their decision to join the PTI there.

It is pertinent to mention that last year has seen a series of political switchings, with a number of political workers and lawmakers from different parties joining the PTI.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders including Nazar Gondal, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Babar Awan joined the PTI last year. Former president Asif Ali Zardari’s close aide in May 2017, also switched to the PTI, while former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Jatoi also left the PML-N to join the Imran-led party.
