ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Sheikh Amir Waheed has said that Kahuta Industrial Triangle was playing an important role in promoting industrial activities in the region, but was facing great problems as Capital Development Authority (CDA) was paying no attention to address its major issues.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Sheikh Amir Waheed said that many industrial units were operating in the said industrial estate, but due to lack of development and facilities, they were facing difficulties.
He said that some three or four years ago, CDA had uprooted the paved roads in Kahuta industrial triangle for repair, but were not repaired till now due to which it was difficult for heavy vehicles to ply in the area. He added that due to the unpaved roads, the industrial area was mostly covered with dust in rush hours while in case of rains, the roads turned into water pools creating difficulties for vehicles and pedestrians.
The ICCI president further said that many foreign business delegations used to visit the industrial area for business purposes but due to dilapidated roads, they felt discouraged. He stressed upon the CDA to repair all the broken roads in the industrial triangle on an urgent basis.
ICCI Senior Vice President Muhammad Naveed and Vice President Nisar Mirza said that the CDA had not developed sewerage system in the said industrial area as yet and the industrialists were working for its development on self-finance basis. They added that the provision of street lights and other facilities was also not satisfactory in the area.
They further said that the industrial area was making a good contribution towards exports, but was devoid of required facilities.
