KARACHI: A Woman, Sughra, 60, died of suffocation after a gas generator filled her home with smoke in Karachi, rescue sources said on Monday.
According to details, the incident took place in Burmese Colony of Korangi where the house was suffocated with dense smoke due to a probable gas leakage.
The cause of leakage is presumed to be a gas generator which was installed in the house amid prolonged power outages in the metropolis.
Apart from a woman who died of suffocation due to smoke, eight others including three women had fainted. They were rescued and shifted to a nearby hospital. Following the incident, police and workers of rescue services reached the spot and started relief work.
The victims were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.
