NAB initiates inquiry against former PSF chairman

ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi NAB has started an inquiry against former Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) chairman Dr Manzoor Hussain Soomro and officials of Ministry of Science and Technology and others.

According to details, Dr Manzoor Hussain was appointed illegally as PSF chairman (BPS-22), Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information DG (BPS-21) and as Economic Coordination Organisation (ECO) president of the science foundation.  He also made illegal appointments and promotions while misusing his authority.

In another case, Rawalpindi NAB has also initiated an inquiry against the officers and officials of CDA and others on the allegation of illegal lease and sale of costly CDA commercial plot in Melody, Islamabad.

Rawalpindi NAB DG Irfan Naeem Mangi said that in light of the directions of NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal, all-out efforts were being made to recover the looted money from swindlers and corrupt individuals.

He further said that the chairman had categorically directed all ranks of officials of NAB to proactively pursue corruption cases as per standard operating procedures (SOPs) transparently and on merit, and take necessary measures to arrest corrupts and proclaimed offenders in order to eradicate corruption from the country.
