CHK decides to transfer politically-backed staff from key posts

KARACHI: The Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) administration decided on Monday to retransfer employees working in the pharmacy and other departments since they were said to be not working on their actual posts, sources at CHK claimed.

The Dr Ruth Pfau CHK management called a meeting at the CHK to decide the fate of staff working in different departments of the hospital on self-determined senior posts by using political influence. Administration officers, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff were invited to attend the meeting.

The decision to remove OPS employees has been taken on the directives of Sindh health department and apex court, said the sources.

They said more than 50 employees including nurses, paramedical staff, doctors and administration staffer are working on key technical posts against their actual posts in healthcare facility due to the political influence and favoritism.

Sindh health department had earlier issued similar kind of directives to the medical superintendent of the hospital in past on several occasions but they were not be implemented.

CHK Medical superintendent Dr Muhammad Taufiq, while talking to a media outlet, said that the meeting was called to decide the future of employees working not on their actual posts. He said all the representatives of paramedics and other organizations have been invited to attend the meeting.

He said of the purpose of holding this meeting was to ensure merit and improve patient care in Sindh’s largest teaching hospital. He said non-technical and unskilled staff would be sent to serve on their actual posts.
