LAHORE: To promote night tourism in the provincial capital, the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has completed the illumination of the Huzoori Bagh which will soon be opened to the public.
According to WCLA spokesperson Tania Qureshi, at least a thousand high definition European standard lights have been installed for the illumination of the historic complex.
“The project has been completed at the cost of Rs16 million, which was spent out of the Lahore Fort’s fund,” she said.
Tania said that illumination of this scale had been done for the first time and the illumination would also be extended to other sites inside the Lahore Fort.
“This illumination will also be providing a majestic view to the visitors at the Fort Road Food Street and surely the footfall will increase,” she said and added that all the sites in the historic complex including the Huzoori Bagh Baradari, Alamgiri Gate, Roshnai Gate, walls of the Lahore Fort, Huzoori Bagh complex, entrance of Badshahi Mosque, tomb of Allama Iqbal, dome of Samadhi of Ranjeet Singh and all the plants and trees inside the historic complex had been illuminated.
WCLA DG Kamran Lashari over the completion of the project said that it was a project much desired by the WCLA. “Lights of international standards have been used in this project. Previously we had illuminated the picture wall of the Lahore Fort and it is being frequented by visitors now. We will soon be lighting up the quadrangles of the Lahore Fort and Sheesh Mahal,” he added.
