PPP chairman inaugurates cardiac hospital at Sukkur
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday inaugurated 300-bed state-of-the-art cardiac hospital in Sukkur to provide cardiovascular services to the people of Sindh at their doorsteps totally free-of-cost.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, PPP MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Health Minister Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro, district administration and hospital management.
While congratulating on achieving this milestone, Bilawal Bhutto said it was also a matter of great pride and honour for the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and the Government of Sindh to launch hospital in Sukkur, which was the biggest cardiac centre in interior Sindh after NICVD Karachi. He said that the Sindh government was taking revolutionary steps for providing health facilities to the people of province.
He said that it was heartening that NICVD and Government of Sindh were striving to serve the people of Sindh. NICVD has achieved another praiseworthy milestone in collaboration with Sindh government towards providing state-of-the-art, totally free cardiac healthcare facilities namely; cardiac emergency, primary PCI (angioplasty during heart attack), adult & pediatric cardiology, echocardiography and critical care (CCU/ICU) for the people of Sindh. In near future cardiac surgeries will also be initiated here.
While addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said, ‘Today, I once again congratulate National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases for stepping into Sukkur to facilitate cardiac patients at their doorstep. After NICVD’s Satellite Centres in Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad and Sehwan; this 5th satellite centre is another huge achievement of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases to provide state-of-the-art cardiac services to the population the region and its peripheries totally free of cost. He further committed to continue supporting NICVD for the cardiac care advancement and these types of projects.
Pakistan People’s Party’s MNA and Opposition Leader in NA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that It was a matter of enormous pride and honour for National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases to start this cardiac hospital in collaboration with the Government of Sindh in my native city Sukkur to provide state-of-the-art cardiac facilities to the people of this town and its peripheries totally free-of-cost.
He further said that NICVD Sukkur would serve this region and its peripheries with the most effective heart health facilities at their doorstep. The cardiac setup would play a role in improving the health of both adult and paediatric heart patients and would significantly reduce the waiting list of patients for the intervention as well. I wish them success and reiterate my support.
Addressing the Inaugural ceremony, NICVD Executive Director Prof Nadeem Qamar said that it gave him immense pleasure that NICVD opened its 5th state-of-the-art satellite centre in Sukkur. It was the matter of great pride that NICVD Sukkur was complete cardiac hospital of international standard and was providing major cardiac facilities especially interventional cardiology in collaboration with the Government of Sindh to the people of Sindh at their doorstep for free.
He said that NICVD centres at Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad and Sehwan has been doing wonders and saving lives. 988heart attack patients at NICVD Larkana, 599at NICVD Tando Muhammad Khan, 424 at NICVD Hyderabad and 123 at NICVD Sehwan were treated successfully since the inception of these centres in April 2017, October 2017, November 2017 and December 2017 respectively.
He added that NICVD has brought both comprehensive diagnostic and treatment modalities to the population of interior Sindh with quality and care. With the same state-of-the-art cardiac facilities, NICVD has stepped into this region of Sindh and has started cardiac emergency, primary PCI (Angioplasty during heart attack), adult and pediatric cardiology, consulting clinics, echocardiography, critical care for the population of this district and its peripheries.
He further added that it was a matter of enormous pride that NICVD was opening three more such centres in Nawabshah, Khairpur and Mithi, which will be operational this year, so that cardiac services could be promptly and easily accessible to people of entire Sindh.
