ISLAMABAD: The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Saturday launched one month-long awareness campaign for making university smoking free and adopting a healthy lifestyle at the new campus of the varsity.
Female campus Director Dr Farkhanda Zia chaired the first programme in connection with the awareness campaign conducted at the female campus.
In the session, Senior Medical Officer Dr Asia Tahir being the resource person involved the audience in exercises, with a tip of adopting those on daily basis. She also urged for a simple diet and stressed to refrain from junk food.
IIUI Psychology Department Lecturer Rabia Mushtaq also delivered a lecture in this regard and highlighted the element of willpower for making habit of healthy activities.
Dr Farkhanda Zia, addressing the programme, said that cleanliness was an imperative attribute stressed by Islam. She opined that schools and universities must come forward for such campaign to deliver in the society.
She also hailed Assistant Directors Jehanzaib Waqas and Nadia Malik for their efforts regarding the campaign.
The campaign will continue at all the campuses of the university till the mid of March and it will cover class discussions, walks, motivational videos, dissemination of awareness material and other constructive activities.
