Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal calls on Punjab CM
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that the current tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government was filled with records of institutional transparency, public service and honesty.
He stated this during a meeting with members of assembly belonging to different districts, who called on him on Friday.
On the occasion, the chief minister also said that the promotion of transparency by the incumbent government had also been acknowledged at the global level. “The PML-N government has taken effective measures for the eradication of corruption and it has been commended by international organisations as well,” said Shehbaz while adding that national resources in Punjab had been honestly utilised for public welfare by considering them a sacred trust.
“Punjab government has set a new record by making a unique saving of Rs682 billion in different projects and no such example has been there in the 70-year-long history of the country. The PML-N government is the most transparent in the national history and it has always done the politics of public service,” he said.
The chief minister also said that a particular party tried to impede the journey of development through sit-ins and lockdowns. “This party has done nothing for public welfare in its province and due to it, the leaders of this party now cannot face the people,” he remarked.
“The people are fed up with the elements involved in the politics of anarchy, and also with those obstructing the process of national development. In fact, the politics of allegations and falsehood have failed against records of public service, honesty and transparency,” said Shehbaz.
Due to the politics of honesty and organisational transparency, the PML-N government was the most popular among the masses, he added.
He also said that the PML-N-led government’s efforts had bear fruit and the people in the upcoming elections would reject the elements engaged in leveling baseless allegations.
Among those who called on the chief minister were MNAs Nadeem Abbas Rabera and Raja Muhammad Javed Akhlas along with MPA Sardar Muhammad Jamal Leghari.
AHSAN IQBAL CALLS ON PUNJAB CM:
Earlier, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal called on CM Shehbaz. During the meeting, different matters of mutual interest including steps taken for the eradication of terrorism, the overall situation of the country and the ongoing political issues came under discussion.
Both the leaders expressed their satisfaction over the positive steps taken to bring improvement in the general law and order situation of the province.
On the occasion, the chief minister said that it was the best time to maintain solidarity because the country would move forward only with the power of unity.
“Terrorism, fanaticism and sectarianism are not the fate of the people and there is no room for such societal menaces in Jinnah’s Pakistan,” he said.
“The Pakistani nation has given great sacrifices in the war against terrorism. The commitment and passion of the nation are much bigger than the challenge of terrorism. It is satisfying that the well-coordinated implementation of the national action plan has broken the proverbial backbone of the terrorists,” said Shehbaz.
He also said that Pakistan would be made a heaven of peace by decisively defeating terrorism and every person would have to play his or her role to maintain the law and order situation. The chief minister said that the people of all the provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir would equally benefit from the CPEC related projects.
“It is worthwhile that China is making a historic investment of billions of dollars in Pakistan through the CPEC and this project is a game-changer initiative. The CPEC has opened doors of foreign investment to Pakistan and it will also play an important role in the elimination of terrorism and fanaticism in the region along with helping to overcome poverty,” he said.
He said the CPEC would alter the course of history, and vowed that no conspiracy against it would ever be allowed to succeed.
