ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, Honorable Justice Mr Javed Iqbal on Thursday ordered an inquiry against Interprovincial Coordination Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Akhtar Ganjeera to probe into alleged allegations of corruption and misuse of authority, as per a report.
NAB had received a number of complaints against the accused, in which the evidence of their corruption and misuse of powers were also provided.
Taking notice of the alleged corruption, the NAB chairman has directed Rawalpindi NAB DG to inquire into PSB’s various departments and funds provided to different sports federations, especially the non-transparent grants to Narowal Sports City and Liaquat Gymnasium.
Additionally, foreign tours taken by ministers, secretaries, the Pakistan PSB DG and their family members on the federation’s expenses and causing losses to the national exchequer by lavish expenses are also being investigated.
The Rawalpindi NAB DG has been directed to review illegal appointments made in PSB, the dilapidated condition of the country’s stadiums despite the release of funds for the maintenance of stadiums, disappearing funds meant for training camps for players and also the alleged corruption in the release of funds for issuing sports equipment, booking of stadiums and the Liaquat Gymnasium.
Justice Javed Iqbal further directed Quetta NAB DG to investigate Balochistan MPA Ms Aneeta Irfan for misuse of authority. The MPA is accused of allotting plots of Christian Welfare Housing Authority, Bashirabad, to non-deserving Christians. The chairman has demanded that a report of the alleged corruption be submitted in accordance with law.
