–Deposed PM says his family is being singled out in name of justice

LAHORE: Ousted prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has stated that his family is being singled out and mistreated in the name of justice, however, they will not be deterred from accomplishing their mission even if their opponents resort to cheap tactics.

The PML-N chief was chairing a meeting of the party at his Jati Umra residence near Lahore on Wednesday.

Sources reported that during the meeting, matters related to the country’s overall political situation, Senate elections, party affairs and the upcoming general elections were discussed.

“We have never compromised on our principles and do not intend to do so in the future. We will not hesitate to sacrifice anything for democracy and the rule of law,” the former premier told party leaders.

While commenting on the recent political turmoil, Nawaz observed that every man in Pakistan was witness to what was going on in Pakistan in the name of justice.

“We are not afraid of anyone because we have a clear conscience, and will steadfastly face all the dirty tactics of our opponents. The government of PML-N has put the country first through all of its troubles and ills. Hopefully, we will go to the court of the people in the next general election and plead our case,” he was quoted as telling party leaders.

The meeting lasted for almost around three hours, whereas a meeting of PML-N’s central working committee has been convened to deliberate the next course of action.

Reports state that the ruling party’s leaders have decided to fight all National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases in the courts. Moreover, a parliamentary board and an election cell,  to oversee party tickets grants for the next general elections were also formed.

The meeting was attended by senior PML-N leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pervez Rashid, Mussadiq Malik, Zahid Hamid, Hamza Shehbaz and others.

Railways Federal Minister, Khawaja Saad Rafique while speaking to reporters after the meeting said that Nawaz Sharif has not given any statements against the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

“Nawaz Sharif talks about the SC verdict and reserves the right to give his opinion on the ruling. If someone gives remarks that are not socially acceptable and are completely unnecessary, then we will surely criticise them,” opined Rafique.

  1. He has no dignity, the electorate is no different, electing crooks and thieves and abusers of power for decades. If the electorate had even a fragment of common sense, they would have sent these crooks home with their vote. Your brain dead electorate is the mother of all problems facing Pakistan
