460 closed schools in Mirpurkhas ordered to reopen

MIRPURKHAS: Mirpurkhas Deputy Commissioner and District Reforms Oversight Committee Chairman Zahid Hussain Memon on Wednesday ordered that urgent steps be taken to reopen 460 closed primary schools in the district.

Addressing a meeting of the committee in his office, he said that there were some surplus teachers in some schools of the districts who should be posted to the closed schools for ensuring their reopening. He said that facilities of drinking water and washrooms should be made available to all schools.

The meeting was told that there were 1973 primary schools in Mirpurkhas district, out of which 460 schools were closed and there was a need to make those closed schools functional as well.

The meeting was further told that in Mirpurkhas district, the government had decided to upgrade 11 schools to ‘model schools’.

Meanwhile, three persons were injured when a car overturned while saving a biker at Mirpurkhas toll plaza.

The injured Sooni Bai, Nirmal Das and driver Nadeem were rushed to Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital for treatment.
