ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani Tuesday said that the ministry had allotted six plots for the construction of mosques in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that fake news was being circulated in the electronic, print and social media about the corruption in the housing ministry without proper information and investigation. He added that the case regarding allotments of said plots was also in the court.

Durrani further said that Ministry of Housing and Works had formulated a policy for allotment of plots to mosques for the first time, under which the ministry after allotment of plots would also establish mosques.  After completing the construction process, he said that an advertisement would be published in newspapers for the appointment of Ulema on merit for performing duties in those mosques.

The Ulema of all schools of thought would be able to apply for those mosques, he said, adding that a committee would select Imams for those mosques as well.

A campaign was being run in the media to malign the politicians which should be stopped, he added.
