LAHORE: The Shahdara police on Monday filed a case against for allegedly committing “blasphemy” after he reportedly threatened to use social media for sharing “hate material,” reported a local English daily.
The young man was booked under the Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), as the main road got blocked due to protests by people against the “sacrilegious content” that had allegedly started appearing on the social media.
The protestors continued the agitation saying that the suspect had allegedly hurt their sentiments by “sharing the blasphemous content” online.
Police reached the spot on time and tried to disperse the protestors by talking to them. However, the crowd got more fierce after announcements were made in local mosques inviting people to join the protest.
