Salvador: With only 11 minutes remaining, a Brazilian local derby between Vitoria and Bahia resulted in the match being abandoned, on Sunday.

It all started when a Vitorian player incited the home crowd after scoring from a penalty. This followed fury from the Bahian players, where a brawl broke out with five men seeing red, three from Bahia and two from Vitoria.

A few minutes later, three players, one from Bahia and two from Vitoria were sent off as well. With teams requiring a minimum of seven players, the referee was forced to end the game.

Brazil’s sporting court will now decide what action to take over the indiscipline and the result.
