ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday fixed February 21 as the date to hear a petition regarding clubbing of three National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in an accountability court.
Chief Justice (CJ) Saqib Nisar would conduct an in-chamber hearing of Nawaz Sharif’s petition against the SC Registrar Office. The former prime minister had earlier filed a petition and appealed to the honorable court to club three NAB references against him, which was returned by the SC Registrar Office after several objections.
Later, Nawaz Sharif filed another petition against the objections, which was also rejected by the chief justice after conducting an in-chamber hearing. After this, the ousted prime minister filed another petition which was also met with objections from the Registrar Office. Now, the apex court had fixed February 21 as the date to hear the petition filed against the objections.
Under the court order, the chief justice would conduct an in-chamber hearing against Nawaz Sharif’s objections. The apex court in its verdict on July 28 had disqualified Nawaz Sharif from holding the office of prime minister and ordered to file three references against him in NAB.
