ISLAMABAD: Former chairman of National High Authority (NHA), Shahid Ashraf Tarar, and contractors of the Karachi-Lahore Motorway Abdul Hakeem will be summoned by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in order to carry out an investigation regarding the alleged corruption in the award of a motorway contract in August 2015, as reported by a local English daily.
According to the report, a corruption of Rs24 billion took place in the award of a contract for Rs148 billion for building the said motorway. According to a senior NAB official, the former chairman of NHA has been summoned by the NAB to probe into the matter.
He further said that this investigation has been started on the basis of evidence collected by the NAB and on the basis of a complaint of the Transparency International (TI).
