Woman attempts suicide after police refuse to register FIR

KHANEWAL: A woman made an attempt to commit suicide inside a police station after the police station staff refused to register a first information report (FIR) on her request on Sunday.

The station house officer (SHO) along with four policemen were suspended from duty and an internal investigation had been initiated against them.

According to details, a woman reached Jahanian police station to lodge a complaint against her husband and tried to register an FIR with the police.

However, the police station staff refused to register an FIR which disappointed the woman. As a result, she attempted to commit suicide inside the police station and was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

Khanewal’s Saddar area deputy superintendent of police (DSP) had been tasked to investigate the matter and submit a report in this regard at the earliest.
