Nisar Memon’s book ‘Insight into the Senate of Pakistan’ launched

Former federal minister Nisar A Memon’s book ‘Insight into the Senate of Pakistan’ was launched here on Saturday which discusses several issues including that of Senate of Pakistan, national security and the internal and external problems posed by terrorism.
The launching ceremony of the book was attended by eminent parliamentarians, diplomats, intellectuals and representatives of academia, and civil society.
Former Senate chairman Waseem Sajjad, in his address, appreciated the efforts of Nisar Memon who had contributed a unique book about in-depth working of the Upper House of Pakistan and apprised general public about the contributions of senators in legislation and performance of Senate committees.
Iftikharullah Babar, in his observations, remarked that book was one of the best references of the rules of business of Senate and its constitutional obligations in connection with legislation process.
Minister of State and Benazir Income Support Programme Chairperson Marvi Memon said most of the people were not aware of the working of Senate in its true perspective and it was the need of the hour that it could be elaborated accordingly. In this connection, the book has fulfilled the gap about the knowledge of Senate working, she added.
Rural Support Programme Network Chairman Shoaib Sultan said the book was an interesting account of Nisar Memon’s six years tenure in the Senate as a member of three Senate committees on defence, production and water resources.
He wished that other parliamentarians would follow his foot prints and record their recollections and views for the guidance of future generation.
Nisar Memon, in his closing remarks, said he has just tried to play his role in recollection of his memories for the education and awareness of future generations.
He said the parliament was a supreme legislative authority and its members had always given their best for the nation and country. Senator Memon also acknowledged the cooperation and support of his colleagues and friends in compiling the book.
He said Pakistan was blessing of Allah Almighty and it was our moral and social obligation to uphold the traditions and high standards of ancestors who had rendered great sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan.
