BADIN: Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Ali Nawaz on Friday launched Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2018 by planting a sapling at the green belt of Badin Press Club (BDC) to contribute in the ‘Greener Sindh’ campaign launched by the Sindh government.
Badin district authorities have planned to plant over 300,000 saplings of trees of various species throughout the season in spring where about 6000 saplings of trees would be planted in the first phase of the campaign.
Addressing the event, Dr Ali Nawaz added that the trees are a part of our life, with which we can also avoid environmental pollution and help to make a healthier and sustainable environment.
He said that Sindh government had decided to start the “Greener Sindh” campaign in Badin district and we are glad that BDC has also participated in the campaign.
He urged all citizens particularly farmers, students, professionals of various fields and women to actively participate in the tree plantation campaign by planting the maximum trees possible.
On the occasion, District Forest Officer Zulfiqar Memon expressed that Sindh government is taking keen interest in the promotion of forestry and increasing the forest cover in the province adding that all out efforts were being made to support such campaigns on every level.
BDC Information Officer Keenjhar Memon, President Tanveer Ahmed Arain, Shoukat Memon and others also addressed the participants.
