RAWALPINDI: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Friday completed the greenbelt project along Nullah Lai. The project received funding from the authority.

Talking to reporters, PHA Horticulture Director Sheikh Tariq said the authority had four kanals of land along Nullah Lai which had been developed for the project. The project comprised of a green area where saplings have been planted to make the area more attractive for citizens as a recreational site, he added.

Tariq said PHA was aiming to make the city green and eco-friendly. It was now the responsibility of the citizens to cooperate with the authority in securing various parks and recreational sites of the city, he added.

Further, he said the citizens should also realise their responsibility as well to keep the public parks clean and should not damage any public property.

He also said PHA had remained successful since its creation, while adding that well-maintained parks, green belts and roads in the city were proof of the authority’s efficiency.

The citizens have welcomed the initiative taken by PHA as most of the abandoned lands of the authority were turned into garbage dumps, Tariq said, while adding that green belts would help create a scenic view of the capital city.
