NAB chairman reviews action taken against illegal private/cooperative housing societies in twin cities

ISLAMABAD: NAB Chairman Honourable Justice Mr Javed Iqbal has presided over a meeting at NAB Headquarters to review the overall performance of NAB, especially the bureau’s performance regarding action taken so far against illegal private/cooperative housing societies in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The meeting was informed that the NAB as per directives of NAB chairman has asked the relevant departments including Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) to take action against all illegal private/cooperative housing societies and asked them to publish the names of all such societies in newspapers, as well as, to place their names on CDA, RDA and ICT websites in order to make the public aware through media’s assistance in order to help people avoid investing in fraudulent societies.

It was reported that NAB has played an effective role in ensuring that the said information is published on the concerned websites. Moreover, the bureau’s chairman immediately after taking over his responsibilities as chairman had directed to bring all the inquiries and investigations against illegal private/cooperative housing societies to their logical conclusion, as per law.

Justice Javed Iqbal sought the report of actions taken against these societies from Rawalpindi Rawalpindi DG.

He reiterated his resolve to take stern action against all defaulting societies besides, recovering looted money from them and returning it to the affectees.

He further said that strict action will be taken against relevant NAB officers on exhibiting negligence.

He urged people to invest their lifelong and hard earned money only in legal private/cooperative housing societies after thorough scrutiny and legal position as per law to avoid fraud at an initial stage.
