ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) environment wing in collaboration with climate change ministry Thursday launched spring tree plantation campaign 2018 here at Fatima Jinnah Park F-9.
Federal Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan, addressing the event as a chief guest, said that all out efforts were being made to support such campaigns on every level. In this regard, the ministry of climate change is playing an active role through fire-fighting training, advisory in Wildlife Management Board, zoo advisory and forestation at Margala hills, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, CDA Environment Wing Executive DG Sanaullah Aman said that the priority of CDA was to make the capital a green and beautiful city. He urged the civil society and residents of Islamabad to play their respective roles in making the campaign a success.
CDA would plant shadowy and fruit trees including Kachnar, Amaltas, Pine, Taearanda, olive and others in each sector of the capital, he said. He added that the saplings would be planted in collaboration with various non-government organisations, schools, colleges and universities.
There were many stalls arranged by students of various schools on the occasion.
The event was attended by officers of the ministry of climate change, CDA, non-governmental organisations, students and teachers from different schools and journalists.
