PML-N, Nawaz destined for MQM-P like fate: Fawad

LAHORE: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Nawaz Sharif were destined for the same fate as the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and its founder.

Speaking at a press conference here, he said that the PML-N would soon divide into groups like the MQM.

Taking on the PML-N chief, Fawad said that Nawaz seems to want all the cases against him closed after a member of his party won the Lodhran by-polls. “But this victory in no way means that a clean chit be given to the deposed prime minister,” he added.

Commenting on the allegations that the PTI was supporting “dynastic politics”, he said that Ali Tareen contested on his father’s seat and that in no way was an example of dynastic politics.

“Such allegations could have been made if Ali had succeeded his father as the PTI secretary general,” said Fawad.

He also said that PTI’s defeat in the NA-154 by-elections was just a part of the political process.

While appreciating the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) efforts, Fawad said that the request to put Hassan and Hussain Nawaz on the Exit Control List (ECL) was a “positive step”.

“A request to add Ishaq Dar’s name to the ECL had also been made in the past,” he said while alleging that the PML-N-led government was involved in the non-execution of orders issued by the anti-graft watchdog.
