Old govt houses to be demolished to construct new flats: CADD minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Wednesday told the National Assembly that old government houses would be demolished and new flats would be constructed in the federal capital.

Responding to a calling attention notice (CAN), he said that houses in sector G-6, G-7 and F-6 were constructed fifty years ago and repairing and overhauling of these houses was necessary.  He informed that there are a total of 1,404 houses and Rs140 million are spent annually on their maintenance.

He said that repairing work of 306 houses was underway, which would be completed soon.

Tariq Fazal also said that allotment of houses situated in sector G-6 and G-7 was announced in 1996. He added that a proposal has been given to the government to construct apartments in the said sectors and be allotted to the residents to resolve the issue.
