KARACHI: Following the allegations regarding the admission process, the academic council of the University of Karachi met and discussed these issues, particularly the transparency in the admission process.
The spokesperson of the KU said that the academic council meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan.
A detailed and thorough discussion took place on the KU Admissions 2018 process on which acting Director Admissions Prof Dr Majid Mumtaz gave a detailed briefing to the council.
The council members appreciated the admission process and the performance of the admission committee, said a KU press release, adding that due to the extensive participation of the council members and discussion, the meeting had to be adjourned till next day.
Dr Mumtaz addressed the reservations of some teachers on the admission process by sharing the details of the admission process.
The vice chancellor hoped that the final decision will be made by the academic council in the greater interest of the university and students, the statement concluded.
It may be noted here that a lot of political appointments of inefficient people in the KU during previous years, coupled with massive corruption and glaring financial and administrative mismanagement have affected the teaching and research standards of the KU and it would further lose its ranking and standing if these serious issues are not addressed on priority.
