IHC seeks reply from defence ministry in missing persons case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday sought a reply from Ministry of Defence in a plea seeking whereabouts of missing Samim Affan, an electrical engineer, within two weeks.

Justice Athar Minallah passed the directions while hearing a plea moved by Atiqur Rehman, the father of the missing person.

The counsel for the petitioner Inamur Rehman alleged that his client’s son was abducted on January 29 from his home located G-13 Islamabad. Later, on February 2, some personnel came again to Atiq’s house and took laptop, cell phone and passport of Affan in their custody, he added.

He requested the bench to direct the respondents to treat with Affan in accordance with the law and produce him before the court of justice.

Representative of Ministry of Defence Captain Khalid Abbas, who appeared in compliance with notices to the department, sought four week time to submit reply in this regard.  However, the bench granted two weeks and adjourned further hearing of the case till then.
