Four illegally recruited teachers terminated from Kasur education dept

KASUR: Four illegally recruited teachers were terminated by the authorities after a fake recruitment scandal of the Kasur education department was brought into the limelight.

Muhammad Kamran, a resident of Kasur, had submitted an application to the secretary schools stating that a group allegedly received bribes for the recruitment of educators in the district. The secretary, as a result, had sought a report from Kasur Education CEO Zulifqar Ahmed in this regard.

The application stated that Muhammad Hussain, a ringleader, allegedly received bribes to recruit teachers on fake documents. The applicant further told that some clerks and education officers were also involved in the scandal.

With the issue also being highlighted on media, the CEO constituted an internal committee and terminated four teachers who were recruited on fake degrees and documents. The committee comprised of the DEO elementary members, DEO secondary members and a senior headmaster.

When Pakistan Today contacted the CEO, he avoided to share the details of the case, but told that while the termination orders of only four teachers including Bushra, Munir, Javed and Imran were issued yet, ten teachers were nominated in the application. The CEO hesitated to share the details of the remaining 6 teachers.

Kamran in his application had also alleged that Muhammad Hussain, a computer teacher had edited the documents while replacing the original scores of the candidates and making them eligible for the post.

An officer speaking on the condition of anonymity told that the group allegedly also edited the merit lists after the visit of the inspection team.

It was also observed that the fake teachers had been posted in far-flung areas of the Kasur district so that they could not be traced easily. Now, after the application against the fake recruitments, the online lists were also removed from the website.

Advocate Lala Abbas while speaking to Pakistan Today alleged that the CEO himself was involved in the fake recruitment scandal. He said it was the reason why he terminated only some of the teachers and was reluctant to recover the salaries from them. Abbas also discussed the ordeal of the candidates who appeared in the NTS exam but failed to get a job for not being financially stable enough to bribe the concerned authorities.
