LAHORE: After hidden cameras being discovered in a changing room of a garments store in Faisalabad, the Lahore deputy commissioner (DC) on Tuesday formed different committees to inspect the changing rooms of all clothing stores in the provincial capital.

According to sources, soon after the news of installation of hidden cameras in a Levi’s outlet of Faisalabad surfaced, Lahore DC Sumair Syed called a high-level meeting where it was decided that all clothing stores of the city will be inspected.

Moreover, the DC office issued a notification in this regard under which the committees will start their work from today (Wednesday).

According to the notification, the committees will be convened by the assistant commissioner of the area and comprise of the zonal officer, member of the local trade union and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of the region. The committees will be assisted by a system network analyst, a civil defence officer and staff of the Municipal Corporation.

The spokesperson of the DC office told Pakistan Today that all the committees would submit their reports on a daily basis while the resources to carry the inspections had already been provided to the committees. However, he said, it was hard to say that in how much time would the inspections be completed.

Sources informed this scribe that officials from the special branch had already started probing if any store was involved in any such crimes. They said that once these committees had done their job, the government was planning to establish a mechanism to keep a check on clothing stores.
