LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced that it would work towards compiling data of all police encounters in Punjab, after the arrest of inspector Abid Boxer and suo motu notice of extrajudicial police encounters by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, as reported by a local English daily.
Former PTI central spokesperson Shafqat Mahmood, while speaking to the newspaper said the party has started gathering data of all police encounters conducted in the province during recent years and that once that is done, the party will approach the courts to ask for justice for the victims.
According to the political experts, opposition parties tried to increase pressure on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif by staging a protest at the Mall Road.
