ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a case regarding illegal construction in Murree. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case.

During the course of proceedings, Punjab Additional Advocate General Razzaq Mirza appeared before the bench and informed that 27 buildings were demolished in Murree. He stated before the court that owners of 140 buildings were creating hurdles.

Upon this, the chief justice asked why the administration did not take any action when these illegal buildings were erected.

The court sought a list of the officers who were working at the time when illegal buildings were constructed.

The chief justice remarked that the court would also hear the point of view of the owners of illegal buildings. He hinted that the court may order Punjab University for a survey.

He said that if the owners of the building failed to submit their stance then their illegal buildings would be demolished. He further said that if anyone has objections to the report filed by Murree’s administration then they should submit replies.

The chief justice directed the deputy commissioner to issue public notice in this regard.

He remarked that the advertisement would be issued by local government instead of Punjab government.
