Don’t let the Wedding Industrial Complex fool you; even under the best of circumstances, ones wedding day isn’t “the happiest day of your life.” Nerves are at play and everyone is extremely high strung, specially the two main individuals involved.
But did that let City 41’s Hanan Bukhari get to him? No. The Faisalabad-based channel’s reporter sprang into action and took the mic from the reporter the channel had actually sent to cover the wedding (the smaller, city-based channels cover weddings of the city’s notables and, yes, staffers, for lack of content) and started doing his job.
Dressed like a variation of the peacock that bridegrooms are supposed to be these days, the fellow asked the one-size-fits-all kaisa mehsoos ho raha hai question from everyone, starting from his father, then moving on to his mother-in-law and then mother. In the middle of all this, of course, was a bit with the blushing bride herself.
The man’s confidence was something to be admired. Back when yours truly started journalism, it was the era when, if you were to tell a lady’s father you were a journalist, he would go on to say yes, but what do you really do?
But apparently the profession has rishta prospects that are good enough to carry off that sort of panache now.
