CM takes notice of news regarding extraction of bone marrow in Hafizabad
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said that new standards of development would be established in Punjab and transparency was being ensured through the monitoring of development projects at every level. Similarly, no compromise would be made on the construction standards of the projects, he said.
He expressed these views while addressing a high-level meeting with provincial ministers and senior government officials, in which progress on the annual development program and ongoing development schemes of different departments was reviewed.
Issuing the directions for an early completion of the projects, the chief minister said that construction of buildings of educational institutions should be completed as soon as possible and different projects including the sports complexes should be completed in a transparent manner so that the youth could be provided with best facilities.
The meeting was told that the first phase of construction of teaching hospitals in four districts was being completed while medical colleges were also being set up in the districts during the second phase.
Shehbaz said that transparency in development projects was a proud hallmark of the Punjab government and the government had set up an example by saving billions of rupees in development schemes.
The timely completion of public welfare schemes, he said, was being ensured and the government was pursuing the policy of ensuring the composite development of all the areas. For the first time in the history of the country, more budget had been allocated for southern Punjab as compared to its population ratio, added the chief minister.
He said that transparency and quality of the development projects were an example of its own and the Punjab government’s vision for development had been acknowledged internationally.
Shehbaz directed the concerned officials that public welfare and fulfillment of the needs of the masses be given priority and that transparent use of funds be ensured while finalising the development schemes. No one would be allowed to waste the hard-earned money of the people, and the violators of the vision of maintaining transparency in development schemes would not be tolerated, he concluded.
Earlier, the chief minister said that the government of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) had won the hearts of the people by fulfilling its promises. The overcoming of the energy crisis was a historic achievement of the PML-N led government. The Punjab government introduced innovative development strategies in education, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors to help improve the quality of life, he said.
Stating this during a meeting with MNA Asadur Rehman and MPA Abdul Rauf, the chief minister further said the government was striving for the equitable development of every city and town and best treatment facilities along with high-quality medicines were being provided to the people across the province. He said that the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) was providing best treatment facilities to the patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases and state-of-the-art medical equipment was being provided to different hospitals across Punjab. The government under the ‘Pakian Sarkan Sukhay Painday Project’ also constructed thousands of kilometers of roads in different villages, added Shehbaz.
