MUMBAI: Former One Direction star, Zayn Malik has been experimenting with language, and writing in Urdu, a Persianised version of the Hindustani dialect.
The 25-year-old singer told an Indian fashion magazine that he has now sung a track with Grammy-winning Bollywood soundtrack composer, AR Rahman, that’s expected to feature in a forthcoming film.
Speaking to Indian Fashion magazine, Zayn said he’s interested to see what people think: ‘It’s one of the first songs I’ve sung in full Hindi, so it’s going to be cool to see what the response to that is. ‘There’s definitely a lot of Urdu; some nice qawwali sounds. There might even be some bhangra vibes. I have worked with AR Rahman on one song.’ Zayn also recently shared a preview of a new song about his girlfriend Gigi Hadid being the only woman he needs.
Zayn also candidly revealed his thoughts on meeting Shah Rukh Khan while in India.
“I personally wasn’t a huge fan until I met him. I realised how humble he is, really showed a different side to him. He always came across as slightly arrogant in the movies to me, but when I met him in real life, he was so nice. He just completely changed my opinion of him.”
