ISLAMABAD: A three-member committee which was set up to probe into possible corruption in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Balochistan confirmed the allegations against the DG Lt Colonel (R) Talha Saeed, on Monday.

In November 2017, a fact-finding committee was formed to investigate into the allegations of corruption levelled against Corrupt Watch Pakistan an NGO which itself works against corruption in the country.

Following the complaint, a three-member committee comprising of Projects DG Zulfiqar Ali, HR DG Mir Ajam Khan Durani and NADRA CFO Rashid Javed investigated the matter.

The committee found that Saeed had cancelled tenders and directed their inclusion in another tender in order to favour a certain bidder, while others were not allowed to participate.

In its opinion, the committee found that ‘the facts, circumstances and record substantiate the Corruption Watch Pakistan allegations against Director General at true in case of NRC Quetta-III and NRC Chaman, Lt Col (R) Talha Saeed.”

The committee further observed that “the non-cooperative attitude of the accused officer is reflected in the proceedings which amount to misconduct and subordination.”

It has forwarded the case for “further necessary action against the officer namely Lt Col Talha Saeed (retd), Director General.”
