Lahore to host human development forum on Feb 13, 14

LAHORE: In collaboration with Urban Unit, the Planning and Development Department (P&DD) is organising an international level stakeholder event, titled ‘Human Development Forum’, in Lahore on February 13 and 14, 2018.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to chair the inaugural session that is to be attended by the provincial ministers, government officials, national and international technical experts, development partners, academia and representatives from the private sector.

There is also a lunching session of various important initiatives and reports at the event. High profile speakers like Jamie Saavedra, the ex-education minister of Peru; Neil Buhne, UN resident coordinator in Pakistan, and Dr Sania Nishtar will deliver the keynote addresses.

The forum will focus on specific themes of health, education, water sanitation & hygiene nutrition, and population planning.

This two-day event will cover six technical sessions: Inclusive and Sustainable Human Development; Better Healthcare, Better Development; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development; Education, Skills for a Sustainable Tomorrow; Integrating Development into Population Planning; and Making Nutrition a Priority.

The discussion on these domains aims to discuss initiatives of the government in areas of human development, to identify the best practices and to establish cross-sectoral linkages for partnership and continued development.

The forum will be attended by 500 delegates and experts, including experts from government, academia and the private sector.
