ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), in collaboration with its members, donated an amount of Rs0.5 million for the Islamabad Lawyers Club.
For this purpose, a delegation of Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) led by its President Arif Chaudhry visited ICCI. ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed in a ceremony presented the cheque of Rs0.5 million to Arif Chaudhry.
Gulf Construction Company Chief Executive Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed, and former ICCI presidents Khalid Javed, Zafar Bakhtawari and Atif Ikram Sheikh contributed in the said amount.
Speaking at the occasion, Arif Chaudhry thanked ICCI for donating a hefty amount for the lawyers club. He said that ICCI and IHCBA have common objectives to serve the cause of their members and they should develop close cooperation to promote the interests of lawyers and business communities. He assured that whenever needed, the bar association would fully support business community for the better protection of its genuine rights.
ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed said that lawyers and business community are two important stakeholders of the city and they should make joint efforts for the conducive business environment and better development of the city. He added that lawyers are playing an important role for delivery of justice to the aggrieved parties and business community is playing a key role in the economic development of the country.
He stressed that government should resolve issues of lawyers and business communities on a priority basis.
