Five burn units in Lahore ensuring quality treatment to patients, PA told

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Friday was told that five burn units were operating in the Lahore city where latest treatment facilities were being ensured to the patients.

It was stated by Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Parliamentary Secretary Hassan Riaz while answering to Dr Noushin Hamid’s queries during the question hour.

These burn units, he said, were functioning at the Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Surgical Tower, Children’s Hospital and the Shaikh Zayed Hospital.

He said that the Punjab government was giving priority to the health sector and spending hefty amounts on it.

Hassan said that under the vision of the Punjab chief minister, new hospitals were being established with ideal incentives to the doctors performing duties in rural as well as remote areas of the province.

Meanwhile, Minister for Special Education Chaudhry Shafiq also responded to the queries by the legislators regarding his department.

Earlier, the tenth sitting of the 34th session of the current assembly started an hour and 29 minutes behind its scheduled time with Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal in the chair.

Some 14 lawmakers were present at the outset of the sitting.

The house could not take up the Sialkot and Narowal Universities Bill as the lawmakers belonging to the opposition benches agitated on a political issue. Annual activity reports of the parks and horticulture authority for six divisions were also not presented before the house.

The chair kept pending three adjournment motions appearing on the agenda.

Owing to the protest by the opposition, the chair adjourned the house to meet again on Monday at 2 pm.
