NA body irked over non-implementation of decisions

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library has expressed its serious concerns over the non-implementation of decisions/recommendations made by the committee during its previous meetings and directed the capital development administration to implement the decisions/recommendations of the committee in letter and spirit.

The meeting of the NA body was held at Parliament House on Thursday with MNA Malik Ibrar Ahmed in the chair.

While discussing the delay in delivery of NTC bills to parliamentarians at parliament lodges, the committee members complained that the NTC bills are delivered after the due date.

The chair expressed displeasure over the delay in delivery of NTC bills at parliament lodges and directed the NTC divisional engineer to ensure delivery of the NTC bill on time.  The committee also discussed the non-functioning of lifts of parliament lodges and non-provision of heaters in the family suites there during winter season.

The committee members also expressed that lifts of various blocks of parliament lodges were out of order and not functioning properly, and lift operators also often remained absent from their duty.

The chair said that such petty matters should be resolved by the authority concerned on its own without taking up them into committee’s meeting.  He also directed the CDA to address the complaints of the parliamentarians according to rules and regulations and on merit without any discrimination or favouritism.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Mehboob Alam, Mian Muhammad Rasheed, Dr Ibadullah and senior officers of CADD, CDA and National Assembly Secretariat.
