ISLAMABAD: Following the footprint of the students, the faculty members of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) have come on roads to protest against numerous issues facing the university.

According to details, faculty members gathered outside the administration office of the university holding placards with slogans reading: Save QAU from hooliganism, corruption and incompetent people as well as land grabbers.

The protest was staged for a few hours, followed by a peaceful march to highlight the poor security system and poor administrative policies of the varsity.  They were of the view that security is purely an administrative issue and the poor security apparatus in and around the campus is enough to expose the inability of the university administration.

They said that owing to the inaction of the administration to ramp up security in and around the university, the lives and properties of students as well faculty members are under constant threat, but the management is not concerned about it. The protesters added that they are unanimous on the point that it is not possible to work as the university does not even have a boundary wall.

The life of the people at the university is at constant risk as there is no check on the visitors coming and going from the university, they added.

Furthermore, the university lands are encroached upon gradually due to non-demarcation of the land of the university despite taking up the issue at various forums.

National Assembly Standing Committee on Education Chairman Col (retd) Dr Amirullah Marwat also voiced serious concern over the inept security arrangements at the campus and remarked that the university gave a look of a ‘cattle pen’ rather than a top-ranked university.

The faculty members vowed that they would continue their protest at administration block of the campus until tangible steps are taken for resolution of the problems facing the university.
