LAHORE: The Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Department (ETNCD) will launch automated registration cards (ARC) by April, in a bid to replace the passport size registration book, according to a local English daily.
The project has already been delayed as it was initially going to be launched in November 2016 after being approved by the Punjab chief minister in March 2015.
The procedure will begin from Lahore in March and no new registration book will be issued after the old registration books are finished. The department would gradually replace the books with the ARC cards instead.
Two million books are issued annually of which 1.6 million registration books are issued for newly registered vehicles, whereas 0.4 million were issued for those already registered.
